When one becomes initiated as a Reiki Master, you become part of a lineage. Every Reiki Master has a lineage, and mine is of traditional Usui Reiki, which means it goes back to Dr. Mikao Usui, the re-introducer of Reiki from Japan.

 

Below is my lineage:

The root of Reiki was re-discovered in the late 19th century by Dr. Mikao Usui.

Dr. Usui passed on the knowledge and power of Reiki to Dr. Chujiro Hayashi, who developed a clinic in Tokyo. In 1938, Dr. Hayashi initiated Mrs. Hawayo Takata into Reiki Mastership.

Between 1974 and 1976, Hawayo Takata initated and trained 22 Reiki Masters. The first was Virginia Samdahl, and the last was Barbara Weber Ray. Among Mrs. Takata's students was Iris Ishikuro.

Mrs. Ishikuro initiated Dr. Arthur L. Robertson to the level of Master/Teacher. Among his students, Dr. Robertson initiated Samuel Strauss to the Third Degree and Yolanda Badillo to the Master/Teacher Level.

In 1990, Samuel Strauss initiated Gary J. Jirauch to First and Second Degree Reiki. In 1991 Yolanda Badillo initiated Gary into the Third Degree practitioner level of Reiki.

Barbara Weber Ray initiated Maureen O'Toole to Reiki Master. Both Barbara and Maureen initiated Kate Hugson-Law to Third Degree Reiki.

In 1987 Kate Hugson-Law imparted the First, Second and Third Debrees of Reiki to Marsha Burak, with the capability of conferring Third Degree Mastership to others.

In 1992, Marsha Burak elevated Gary J. Jirauch to Reiki Master with the capability and training to transmit all three levels and confer Reiki Mastership to others.

In 1995, Horace B. Bush was initiated as a Reiki Master Teacher and a Karuna Ki Master Teacher by Gary Jirauch.

Nan Seedman was initiated to Reiki Mastership and Karuna mastership by Horace Bush in 1997.

In 1997, Margaret Gamez was initiated as a Reiki Master Teacher, and in 1998, as a Karuna Master Teacher by Nan Seedman.

Margaret also received Reiki training from Gary Jirauch, and in 1998, Gary Jirauch initiated her into Ancient Egyptian, or Seichem, Reiki as a Master Teacher.

In 1999, Jan L. Hansen received First and Second Degree Reiki from Margaret Gamez. Jan was elevated to Reiki Master/Teacher by Margaret Gamez in April, 2000.

In 2002, Jessica H. Grzybowski-Ahlers received First and Second Degree Reiki from Jan L. Hansen. Jessica was elevated to Reiki Master/Teacher by Jan L. Hansen in June, 2003.
